After a great tournament at Flowerbowl in Vancouver, we were looking forward to meeting our next competition at Summer Solstice, in Eugene, Oregon. But the tournament almost didn't happen for the two of us writing this post because after a late start in Toronto, Doh Doh called Air Canada to ask if our estimated arrival time to the airport would leave us enough time to catch our flight. The operator answered 'not likely.'
TC made the trek to the west coast for the first time this season to play in Flowerbowl. The weather was beautiful and so was our team. Unfortunately, not everyone could attend this weekend giving us a shortened roster of 17 players. After the long weekend training camp in Ottawa we knew our plan and had our goals in mind. The May long weekend has come and gone. Many people enjoy this weekend by going to cottages, camping or just having relaxing down time. To TC, this weekend meant other things, it meant all our team came together for the first time (7 players were sadly missed in TCTC#1) to learn our offensive and defensive strategies, to go over our goals as a team and to engage in some team bonding fun and shenanigans. From four provinces and seven cities we traveled by plane and car to our a Nation's Capital (yay!), for a 3 day training camp of focused and gritty ultimate. This past weekend marked the first official TC training camp - or as we like to call it TCTC#1. Planes and cars took us to Toronto for the weekend so that we could hammer down some details of our offense, have some fun, and face some competition other than ourselves for once.
The day has finally come. It's official. Team Canada has been selected. Although it has been a long and challenging process - the phone calls to players with the final results made it all worth it. We wish to thank everyone that applied to this year's team - the number of solid applications that we received is a good indication of the skill and talent that is present across Canada.
